seriedad fallida con entusiasmo

Hola, thank you for your interest in my being-work. My name is Irene Trejo, alias Merma Suelo. I am a polyfaceted poet, researcher, performer and sound artist dancing and playing between layers to listen, understand and transform the living relational patterns and dynamics within ourselves and our environments with the intention of creating a more loving, just, free and non-oppressive reality. My practice centres on the hydrocommons, vulnerability and collective liberation, and is supported by life, body–territory and listening practices, ritual, divination, plants, politics and more. I am a very curious being who has been gifted with many lives in this body, yet is now humbly trying to focus and commit on the chosen for depth and stronger bases.

Irene Trejo alias Merma Suelo (México) is a polyfaceted poet, journalist, performer and sound artist. They move between layers and dimensions to listen and transform living relational dynamics within ourselves and our environments, as well as their connection points and tools - resulting in what we call reality. Their practice centres on the hydrocommons, sonic situadness and in collective liberation, supported by body–territory and deep listening practices, ritual, divination, her interest in psychoacoustics, plants, entheogens, and transformative justice. She is also very interested in studying the Romance Myth through traditional music.

Within sound, they have released two solo experimental music albums – "siento" (L-KW, 2025) & "merma suelo" (también, 2023) as her alias Merma Suelo, as well as collective sound works – "Ladridos" and "Period Music" (Other People).

Their writing has appeared in media such as Arts of the Working Class, Divest Mag, Paper, Terremoto, Heartbeat, diSONARE, CTM and more. Irene is the author of the poetry book Rendirse to Resist (Aire editorial, 2021).

She is also the founder of Fluid Ecotonalism- A collaborative, poetic & transversal proposal that, through the body, synthesises the relation and feeling between liquid ecotones, leaving behind sound drifts as residues and/or expansions.

Irene is part of Radical Sounds Latin America, Soydivision, and other grassroots communities in Berlin, where she is currently based.
